This weekend, in between listenings of the very strong new Coldplay album (Thank GOD that X&Y is in the PAST), my brother and I took a listen of the new Weezer album. I was a fan from the first album on, and I am of the camp that knows Weezer started a fast decline after Pinkerton. While Green and Maladroit had some ok songs, they were pretty poor. But none of that compares to the death rattle that was their last album Make Believe. It is one of my top 10 Worst Albums of all time. Seeing that trend I was ready to say Weezer was dead to me. Then a funny thing happened; the first 5 tracks of the new Red Album were pretty damn cool! The album proper suffers from ill-advised lead vocals from the other band members (Even Pat's song was lame and I really like him) in the second half. After those the album finished strong and then the bonus tracks rocked as well. So brother Jacob and I went to work on reorganizing the album track order. We dropped the crap songs replaced with the bonus tracks, mixed stuff around and Ta-Da! The best Weezer album since Pinkerton was born!
I give you Weezer The Re-Red Album!
Track Listing:
Pork and Beans
Pig
Troublemaker
The Greatest Man That Ever Lived
Miss Sweeney
Heart Songs
Dreamin'
King
Everybody Get Dangerous
The Spider
The Angel and the One
We dropped three shitty songs, these should have been the bonus tracks
as the bonus tracks were all much stronger then these clunkers:
Thought I Knew
Cold Dark World
Automatic
So fire up your iTunes throw this together and enjoy! Please feel free to let me know what you think! I know the band themselves worked hard to put it in the order they liked, but hell, this just works better!
Spiritualized has released another incredible album, and I'm here to share one of my early favorites off Songs In A&E, entitled "Soul On Fire." It starts out rather slow, and very smoothly works up into a rousing finale. I hope you enjoy it and check out the full album, out now!
UPDATE: Vox will not allow this upload.
